Family English Courses in the UK

Optional Weekend activity available upon request
English for Families

Take part in one of our family English courses in Canterbury and learn English with your family. It will be like a ‘home away from home’ for everyone. At LanguageUK we can offer courses for each member of your family. To take part in this course, both parents and children will need to study. While adults can join our group or individual courses, children can have lessons in small groups with one of our experienced teachers. We also offer a full activity programme for children during the afternoons. We have availability any time of the year. Please contact us.

Many families choose homestay accommodation (all the family together with one of our hosts), with breakfast and dinner included. There is also a self-catering option if you prefer.

You can also decide to rent your own private apartment or holiday house, or stay in a hotel or B & B (bed and breakfast).

We are very happy to help and guide you in your choice.

Designed For

  • Families and carers with children who want a study holiday together.
  • Anyone from the age of 5 years and above.

*Please note that all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Levels and ages

We do not mix children who have advanced and beginner levels and we try to put children into small groups according to their age. Most of the children and young learners who have studied with us before are elementary to intermediate level. The maximum class size is 10. Our courses are not academic so children will not be covering lots of grammar and vocabulary as in their ordinary classroom environment. However, older children will also have some grammar and vocabulary. We do not test young children and our aim is not to re-create the same classroom environment they might have in their home country. Having said this, our class aims and objectives are as follows:

  • To give children the opportunity to take part in a total English immersion programme where the language used by the tutor during breaks, between classroom activities and outside the actual class instruction is equally as important.
  • To present and provide interesting projects, with topics for children to participate in and where they will learn some vocabulary and grammar usage through the practice of authentic activities. These activities can include: cooking, shopping for food, projects on historical places visited during the afternoons, keeping a diary, playing games and so on.
  • To have fun but learn at the same time. We want children to go back to their country having had a positive and memorable experience.
