Our 50+ course is for busy professionals or students who are 50 years and over and would like to spend a short period of one or two weeks practising their English in small groups of up to 8 students maximum. The focus of the course is principally on speaking and vocabulary and the programme is designed for students looking for a different course. Our course includes a selection of “talking trips”, interesting class topics and activities designed to promote fluency and confidence in the English language.

 15 hours of tuition, 4 afternoon activities plus 1 day trip at the weekend.

Designed For

  • Students who are 50+ and who have a minimum B1 level of English.
  • Working professionals whose goal is to practise their speaking and fluency skills.
  • Students with life experience who would like to practise their English in class and take part in interesting and inspiring activities and trips.
  • Closed groups – We can design a very specific programme according to the group requirements. Please note that there might be an additional cost depending on the requirements.

Course Structure

50+ English and Culture course – 15 hours of tuition per week ( all lessons are of 45 minutes).

Morning classes:

During the mornings students will attend class. On the first Monday you will choose from a task bank of themes and ideas given to you by your teacher. You are also welcome to suggest your own ideas. Each morning is carefully planned to encourage  “natural” speaking . Some guided practice and attention to improvement in areas such as grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary will be given in class. Students will be invited to record their daily practice and thoughts.

Afternoon activities:

In the afternoons, you will take part in a selection of activities and trips and this is an extension of your class. Your teacher or activity guide will accompany you and encourage you to have conversations with the group.

Saturday day trip

The course includes of day trip for each Saturday. This includes a guided tour in the morning and free time in the afternoon.

Sample Timetable

Examples of Activities:

Learn about “Kent, the  Garden of England”; prepare a cream tea; Canterbury history, traditions and famous people.

Tours:

Country walk in Kent; Canterbury Cathedral tour; Canterbury tour

Saturday:

Full day-trip to Whitstable Oyster Company and the Kent coast.

Sunday:

Free day.
Optional: Full day London tour based on a minimum of 6 students.
